The training covered topics such as:
- An introduction to property development
- The property development process
- Conducting market research; Analyzing critical market indicator, catchment-area analysis and take-up rates, etc.
- Property Development Finance; Debt and equity, property development risk, etc.
- Conducting Feasibilty Studies; Residual land value calculation, sensitivity analysis, calculation of returns, etc.
- A case study to apply the concepts taught.
The programme was facilitated by Professor Francois Viruly, a seasoned Property Economist with over 25 years of experience in public and private advisory. He has served in various professional capacities such as Chief Economist at the Chamber of Mines, Acting Head of Department in the Department of Construction Economics and Management at the University of Witwatersrand, and in 2011, he was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town. He i a past president of the African Real Estate Society (AfRES) and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He has recently been appointed to the RICS Sub-Saharan Africa Market Advisory Panel.
To have shared in such vast knowledge and experience was an opportunity many could not pass up and thus, the enlisted participants languished in all that was taught, asked questions and left as transformed and enlightened Property Developers to-be.
The event was closed off with a certificate awarding ceremony in recognition of the accomplishments of all the attendees.
