Global Institute of Property Studies was established in 2022 with a mission to make professional real estate education accessible to all. The Institute has since graduated its first cohort of students in a glamorous ceremony held on the 8th of December 2023.
The Surveyors Registration Board (SRB) is a body corporate established by the Surveyors Registration Act Cap 275 to regulate and control the profession and activities of Registered Land Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Valuation Surveyors and advise the Government in relation to those functions.
In a bid to better regulate the real estate industry, the Government of Uganda is taking steps to get all real estate practitioners accredited and licensed. A major step in this direction is the ongoing recognition of various real estate oversight agencies and entities by the Surveyors Registration Board. The Real Estate Bill is also in its final stages of preparation.
Global Institute of Property Studies, in its mission to extend professional real estate education to all, reached out to the Surveyors Registration Board seeking recognition as a professional real estate training institute. In a letter dated January 18, 2024 under the reference of "REGISTRATION AND STREAMLINING OF THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS IN UGANDA", the Surveyors Registration Board wrote:
"The Board at their 9th Meeting held on January 10, 2024; recognized the Association of Real Estate Agents in Uganda (AREA-U) as the professional institution for Real Estate and Land Agents pursuant to Section 15 of the Surveyors Registration Act-Cap 275.
Furthermore, the Board recognized the Global Institute of Property Studies as one of the training institutions that will work closely with AREA-U to provide relevant training in Real Estate and Land Agency."
This is a significant milestone for the Institute and will go a long way in enabling us accomplish our mission and objectives.
Global Institute of Property Studies introduced the Certificate in Real Estate Law and Diploma in Land and Property Management courses this year with a focus on growing its catalog of professional real estate courses. The course offerings currently total to six, including; the Certificate in Property Management and Certificate in Agency and Brokerage. The Institute also offers custom trainings to other Institutions and entities which fall within a wide range of real estate fields such as sales and marketing, PropTech, professional cleaning, real estate ethics, among others.
