Global Institute of Property Studies (GIPS) proudly participated in the African Real Estate Society (AfRES) Conference held in partnership with the Association of Real Estate Professionals of Tanzania (AREPTA) from May 15-16th 2025 in Arusha, Tanzania. This joint event served as both the Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference for the two professional bodies. It brought together top experts, practitioners, and academics from across the continent under the theme "The Effect of Transport Modernisation on Real Estate."

The conference was graced by influential figures, including the Minister of Lands of Tanzania, the country's Chief Valuer, Professor Felician Komu (former Editor-in-Chief of AfRES), Professor Kironde of Ardhi University, and senior members of the AfRES executive. Their insights laid the groundwork for thought-provoking discussions on the intersection of infrastructure development and real estate investment trends in Africa.

Representing GIPS, I had the privilege of engaging with this esteemed gathering and was invited to co-host a Q&A session following a series of academic paper presentations. This opportunity elevated the institution's visibility and positioned us as a meaningful voice in the region's professional development. GIPS was also acknowledged during a special session for AfRES members in leadership, affirming our growing role in the continent's real estate education ecosystem.

The event presented numerous strategic benefits. It opened doors for future collaborations with academic and industry peers, highlighted areas where GIPS can offer training interventions, and reinforced our institution's role in shaping the next generation of property professionals. Connections made during the conference are already laying the groundwork for exciting new initiatives.

Our participation in this high-level gathering reaffirms GIPS's commitment to excellence, regional engagement, and the advancement of knowledge in the real estate sector. We are grateful to the AfRES and AREPTA for organising such a transformative platform and look forward to turning the insights gained in Arusha into impactful programs for our community and the broader African real estate landscape.
